After you submit your loan forgiveness application through Scratch, it will go through the following steps:
- Scratch reviews your application for accuracy (2 to 4 weeks). If Scratch detects any issues with your application—for example, you are missing documentation or your documentation does not match the expenses you have claimed—we will contact you with feedback and instructions for fixing and re-submitting your application.
- The SBA reviews your application and issues a final decision. After Scratch reviews, we send your application to the SBA. We’ll notify you about this step via email and you’ll see an updated application status in your account at my.scratch.fi that reads: “Your application has been sent to the SBA for final review.” Next, the SBA will issue a final decision on your application. The SBA will generally issue a decision within 90 days, though in rare cases, it may take longer. Once the SBA issues a decision, Scratch will notify you. Borrowers with a remaining balance due will then enter repayment.
To check on the status of your application after submitting, we recommend you:
- Log into your account on my.scratch.fi to see “Application Progress”
- Check the email inbox associated with your loan for updates on your application status (we will notify you there anytime your status changes)
